Cadenza is open to anyone over eleven, including school pupils, undergraduates, postgraduates and amateur adults, and delivers solo and chamber lessons, usually half and half, but the balance can be varied by request.
Older students in preformed ensembles often wish to focus on advanced chamber coaching and to enjoy the late night mixed staff/student chamber scene.
Students regularly appear in the BBC Young Musician finals, and Alumni include Nicola Benedetti.
Younger children have daily String Orchestra and General Musicianship classes, and their pastoral and musical well being is overseen by Rosie Banks, Matron and Director of Young Strings.
Other orchestral, chamber and choral options are voluntary, with students of all ages playing in what they feel comfortable with.
There are regular piano performance classes, student/staff concerts and open masterclases.
On the final evening, a concert takes place in which every chamber group performs.
Concertos with strings may be offered – let us know.
You should arrive on the first day in time for an evening meal.
The course finishes after a public final concert at 11:30am on the last day.
